Apple vs. the textbook: Can education go paperless?
Thu Jan 19, 2012
The advantages of using an iPad are fairly obvious, but there's no doubt they come with a few caveats simply because they are not books. You don't have to backup a book. Although a book can be damaged, it usually doesn't suffer catastrophic loss when misused.
Italian cold fusion machine passes another test
Thu Nov 3, 2011
While I presume this could be an elaborate hoax, we should remember the other side of this equation. Power generation is an entrenched large scale business with billions of dollars at stake. History is full of cases of big business squelching competition with dirty tricks.
Netflix Entering Content Distribution
Sun Mar 20, 2011

'Curveball': I lied about WMD to hasten Iraq war
Tue Feb 15, 2011

Tue Nov 17, 2009

Mon Jan 25, 2010
As someone who has four decades of books crammed into large bookcases in three rooms, and who's also contemplating a move, I have a lot of sympathy for this idea. Books are only physical because of convenience. It was either that or make a lot of inconvenient trips to the library.
What do you think of PlayStation Home?
Wed Dec 17, 2008
My initial experience in Home was similar to strolling through an unsupervised playground for adolescents. I wasn't surprised by this; in fact I was expecting it.
